Zaher is a PhD student in Medical Biology at the University Medicine Essen. His academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (Biochemistry section) from the Faculty of Sciences at Damascus University. This was complemented by practical lab experience in university hospital laboratories and teaching practical courses at Damascus University’s Faculty of Dentistry. A scholarship then enabled him to pursue a Master’s in Biotechnology at KIIT, India, deepening his expertise in molecular cancer biology.

His research focuses on investigating the crosstalk between post-translational modifications "Epigenetics" and DNA Repair in response to ionizing radiation. The project is supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG.
